Friends of Ruby is grateful for Virgin Plus’ support. We value their generosity in helping us to #GrowWithPride, raise awareness during PRIDE month, and continue to support 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in need. We want to share more about Virgin Plus and their commitment to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, so we asked them a few questions! 

Can you share with us why supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in Toronto is important to Virgin Plus and how this aligns with your corporate values? 

A sense of belonging is, and always has been, a core value of the Virgin Plus brand. Through Plus with Purpose, our mission is to support young adults (including women, BIPOC, newcomers, 2SLGBTQIA+, and youth with disabilities) in their journeys and the planet they live on.

Every day, we strive to keep Canadians connected at an affordable price. By supporting Friends of Ruby, we continue our mission of creating affordability by helping them provide essential services, including a full circle of support which includes mental health and counselling services, case management, and transitional housing at no cost to youth.

We’re proud to support Friends of Ruby and the important, impactful work they do, to help create a brighter future for today’s youth and the communities in which they reside.

Could you highlight any specific initiatives, programs, or contributions your organization has implemented as part of the #GrowWithPride campaign?   

Virgin Plus is proud to have the opportunity to contribute to this year’s #GrowWithPride campaign. We are contributing funds to Friends of Ruby to support their efforts in offering free counseling, housing, and social services in Toronto, as well as their “Meals to Go” program to help those struggling with food insecurity. On top of this, we are excited to support Friends of Ruby’s activation at this year’s Toronto Pride by providing devices and on-site connectivity to help them connect their services to more of those who need them. As a partner of Friends of Ruby, we are proud to help create a world where every young person feels welcome, recognized, and understood.

Is there anything that you would like to share about your experience collaborating with Friends of Ruby, or something that you have learnt about the mission that has had an impact?  

Our partnership with Friends of Ruby consistently empowers us to deepen our commitment to our mission of supporting young adults in their journeys and the planet they live in. Their efforts continuously show us how to truly connect and make an impact with youth in 2SLGBTQIA+ communities. Their educational tools and resources have also provided Virgin Plus team members with a greater understanding of the world around us, as well as strategies on how we can show up for one another in the most meaningful ways to create inclusive spaces. We are excited to continue to grow with and learn from Friends of Ruby to help foster environments where all Canadians are safe and celebrated for who they are.
