Friends of Ruby is grateful for Clorox’s support. We value their generosity in helping us to #GrowWithPride, raise awareness during PRIDE month, and continue to support 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in need. We want to share more about Clorox and their commitment to supporting the well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, so we asked them a few questions! 

Can you share with us why supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in Toronto is important to The Clorox Company and how this aligns with your corporate values?

Clorox is a proud supporter of the 2SLGBTIA+ community, and we believe in building a diverse culture where every person can feel respected and valued, allowing them to be the best versions of themselves. Our longstanding commitment to IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Allyship) is reflected in our purpose – championing people to be well and thrive every single day, and we believe in making meaningful and positive impacts on the world around us.

Could you highlight any specific initiatives, programs, or contributions your organization has implemented as part of the #GrowWithPride campaign?   

Clorox’s employee resource groups aim to foster greater understanding of different perspectives and backgrounds, through multiple cultural events and panel discussions throughout each year. One of our many Employee Resource Groups (ERG) is the Pride ERG, of which we have a mighty team based in Canada. Our mission is to create a proud and inclusive environment where 2SLGBTQIA+ employees help drive a sustained competitive business advantage for Clorox.​ We do this by:​ Creating a visible and empowered 2SLGBTQIA+ workforce in Clorox Canada​, encouraging and practicing Allyship within the organization​, and fostering Programs that are important for Clorox LGBTQ+ employees, families and allies​. A couple of initiatives we ran this year include the February Love is Love Campaign and Education Session, the Friends of Ruby Charity Drive, the Pride Run, and the Toronto Pride Parade, to name a few.

Is there anything that you would like to share about your experience collaborating with Friends of Ruby, or something that you have learnt about the mission that has had an impact?  

Working with the Friends of Ruby organization has been a great experience. We look forward to continuing our partnership and furthering our education on the challenges that 2SLGBTQIA+ youth face.
