Who We Are
Friends of Ruby is a registered charity dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and two-spirit youth (aged 16-29) through counselling, social services and housing. Founded as Egale Youth Services in 2014, we became an independent entity in 2019. To date we have supported more than 1,000 youth and prevented over 470 mental health crises. At the Friends of Ruby Home and drop-in space, we offer counselling and a variety of programs and support groups, including dedicated spaces for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) youth.

We are looking for a talented clinician who identifies as a member of the LGBTQI2S community to provide mental health and counselling support to LGTQI2S youth including those with intersectional identities of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC). The Clinical Counselor will provide single session and short-term counselling will plan and facilitate clinical groups and crisis support.
Program Manager, Youth Education and Employment
The Program Manager, Youth Education & Employment is responsible for the effective management and delivery of our youth employment and education programs at the Friends of Ruby, Youth Job Connection, Youth Job Connection Summer and Youth Works (Youth Employment and Skills Strategy Project).
Community Engagement Coordinator
This role involves building connections with the community surrounding Friends of Ruby spaces, responding to and addressing community concerns, facilitating Community Liason Committees, providing updates, engaging community members as volunteers or in specific activities at Friends of Ruby’s Transitional House and Drop-In.
Training & Development Coordinator
The Training and Development Coordinator will be the point of contact for training and development related inquiries as well as supporting the delivery of training and development programs within Friends of Ruby. This includes planning, coordinating, directing training and development programs, maintaining training, and compiling reports and statistics. The Training and Development Coordinator will support organizational growth and increase employee productivity through the long-term improvement of employees’ skills, enabling them to fulfil their potential within the organization, while staying current with changing technologies.
Development Associate, Stewardship and Communications
The Development Associate, Stewardship and Communications will support with designing and executing meaningful donor experiences that deepen donor engagement with Friends of Ruby, as well as supporting day-to-day social media & communications. Working alongside other members of the development and marketing team, the candidate will develop strategies to engage donors using digital platforms as well as monitor, track and establish benchmark metrics.

Friends of Ruby supports LGBTQI2S youth (aged 16-29) through mental health services, social services and housing. Our approach is comprehensive, involving mind, body and community – supporting youth wherever they are on their personal journey.
