Who We Are
Friends of Ruby is a registered charity dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and two-spirit youth (aged 16-29) through counselling, social services and housing. Founded as Egale Youth Services in 2014, we became an independent entity in 2019. To date we have supported more than 1,000 youth and prevented over 470 mental health crises. At the Friends of Ruby Home and drop-in space, we offer counselling and a variety of programs and support groups, including dedicated spaces for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour) youth.

2SLGBTQIA+ Case Worker
Reporting to the Manager of Case Management and Director of Strategic Initiatives and Programs the Case Worker will provide support, engagement and case management services with an interdisciplinary team to high-risk 2SLGBTQIA+ youth.
IT Coordinator/Jr. Business Analyst
The IT Coordinator/Jr. Business Analyst, reporting to the Director of Finance and Business Operations, is required to perform in a fast-paced high energy environment, supporting staff and senior leadership with the execution of systems, tasks and projects. This role will provide day-to-day support to the staff and senior leadership and perform specialized duties as part of the Operations Team. This position regularly interacts with staff, management, external consultants and vendors.
The Finance Manager will manage the organization’s finance function creating organizational program budgets in collaboration with the Director of Finance and Business Operations and the key members of the Leadership team. This role will be responsible for the full cycle of accounting, budgets performance, forecasts, and reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
The Friends of Ruby Program Manager reports to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Programs, and is responsible for working collaboratively with youth, program staff and the management group to create, evaluate and support the delivery of high-quality programming across all functions of the agency. This includes but is not limited to the Transitional Home and the Drop-In Program.
Residential Housing Worker
We are looking for a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to be our next Residential Housing Worker to support the organization’s efforts towards providing progressive support to 2SLGBTQIA+ youth including those with intersectional identities of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour (BIPOC).
Volunteers are an essential part of our organization and support staff and youth in different capacities. We are currently not accepting volunteers at this time. Please stay tuned for updates.
Friends of Ruby supports LGBTQI2S youth (aged 16-29) through mental health services, social services and housing. Our approach is comprehensive, involving mind, body and community – supporting youth wherever they are on their personal journey.
When you give to Friends of Ruby, you directly support essential services for LGBTQI2S youth. We provide meals, groceries, community programming, practical supports and mental health services.
Volunteers are an essential part of our organization and support staff and youth in different capacities. As a volunteer you’d play a vital role in our mission, while gaining valuable experience and developing new skills.
